By Sherri Wuzinski It was very loud at the bowling alley this past week. It sounded like the roof was falling in and just when you were taking cover and wondering what it could be, it turned out to be Sherri Hughes taking out the lane guard.
Taking it out isn’t quite the word, smacking the crap out of it is a better description. She knocked it clean out of the holder. But Matt Wold, who has had some history of doing this decided to take it out this past week as well. It sure makes a loud bang, boom, crash when it gets knocked out. I guess the lane guards were necessary to protect the lanes. The Gutters-R-Us team has taken back the first place spot. However, the standings seem really close this quarter so it could be anybody's game who keeps up the good bowling. Roxanne Shaw had three great games last week to take over the ladies high triple on lane four. I must apologize to her for not having her name up on the white board when she did this. She even commented that someone will probably break it and she will not even get to see her name up there. I thought no way, the scores are getting quite high since we are getting on in the season, but low and behold old Murphy’s law came into play and it looks like someone has broken her lane record. Maybe I will have to not notice that one for one week so she gets to see her name in big bold letters. The Spicy Nachos have rounded up another player with Adam Pulvermacher joining the team. He posted a big score of 235 for his second time out bowling. Nice job, you are in now they are not going to let you get away. Allan and Melissa Smith showed the whites of their eyes in here again for the first time this season. They spared for some vacationers who were in Florida enjoying the sunshine and hot weather. It sure didn’t seem like they were rusty at all since they bowled a couple of great games. The standings: Gutters-R-Us - 86.5 Lawn Bowlers - 85.5 Pins & Roses - 81.5 Forever Together - 81 Gutter Dusters - 75 Handicapped - 71 Bowllicks - 69 Wild Dawgs - 63 Spicy Nachos - 60 Whiteouts - 59.5 Ball Busters - 59 Youth League The high scores just keep getting higher and higher. It seems to be a real motivator to beat those high single scores. Hunter Cox and Quynn Regnier had an excellent game this past week. They usually bowl together and they were both on a roll posting scores of 160 for Quynn and a whopping 170 for Hunter. Awesome games girls. Brendan Sorenson has been kicked out of the junior boys high single, he is no longer eligible to compete in this category since he tied for the senior boy’s high single. He had a great finish on a game with three strikes in a row and ended with a 217 game. He just graduated to a senior and I’m sure we will see some more high scoring games from this young man. Michael Ayotte had a couple of good games this past week and so did his sister Savannah. Then mom, Bonny bowled a game of the bingo bus and her team won. The family really burned up the lanes this past week. We have started the third quarter now. Standings: Tornadoes - 9 Tsumani - 8 Thunder - 6 Hurricanes - 4 Lightning - 3 |
