Located on the shores of beautiful Alix Lake, the Village of Alix offers all of the amenities of an urban community with affordable housing on large lots within easy commuting distance to a number of larger centers. Alix is a place where the rush hour doesn’t exist, and where residents enjoy a safe, friendly and progressive community. There are changes planned for the Village of Alix . Council has made the decision to remove the present recycling center and replace it with a curbside blue box recycling program. The same company that provides the curbside garbage collection will also be providing the blue box program. This change will take place in mid May. Village Council is also pleased to announce that a main street upgrade project has been approved for implementation in 2010. The project includes removal and replacement of the existing road surface and sidewalks, replacement of underground infrastructure where necessary, improved drainage including environmentally friendly rain gardens to remove run off, a center median, and a pleasing streetscape design. The sewer system upgrade involves removing Lake Street Lift Station and the installation of a sewer main on 46 Avenue and upgrades to the Rahr Park Lift Station. The total cost of the project is $3,200,000 and will be financed as follows:Capital reserves of $610,000; Grants of $1,663,034; and Debenture of $926,966.
